Beam Mobile FAQs
Case Features & Protection
What makes Beam cases different from consumer cases?
Beam cases are the only ones that use FDA-approved disinfectant-resistant plastics that won’t degrade or discolor like consumer-grade cases.
How protective are the cases?
Our cases are MIL-SPEC tested and meet or exceed the 6-foot drop protection required for everyday hospital use. We also provide screen protectors on all our cases to further protect your investment.
How much weight/bulk does the case add?
Very minimal. Our cases vary by iPhone size and are designed to add the least weight and dimensions. We have holsters that make carrying your mobile EHR easy.
Can cases withstand extreme temperatures?
Beam matches the iPhone’s operating range: 32°–95°F (0°–35°C). Staying within this range preserves device and battery health.
Can we test Beam cases before buying?
Beam provides free evaluation units to qualified accounts.
Can we customize cases with our hospital branding?
Yes. Logo branding is available with a minimum order of 100 units.
Cleaning & Disinfection
What cleaning chemicals are safe?
Beam cases safely withstand repeated use of PDI, Clorox, CaviWipes, bleach-based cleaners, alcohol wipes, hydrogen peroxide, and ammonium chloride wipes.
Are cases suitable for sterile or surgical environments?
Yes. The plastic is sterilization-friendly and designed for repeated medical-grade cleaning.
Do Beam cases resist chemical spills or fluids?
Yes. They resist disinfectants, lotions, gels, sanitizers, oils, and moisture. We are IP54-rated to minimize splash and dust incursion.
How should I clean my Beam case?
Clean with the iPhone or iPad in the case. Use your hospital’s standard disinfectant wipes or sprays. Make sure the case is dry, especially the battery cavities. See our Cleaning Tips under Documents.
Beam Batteries
How long do Beam batteries last?
500–1000 charge cycles or 18–24 months of typical clinical use. Note that our batteries are used almost daily in mobile EHR systems.
When should I replace batteries?
Every two years. Older batteries are more likely to swell or fail and are no longer under warranty.
How to maximize battery health:
Avoid overcharging or deep discharging, and remove the batteries from chargers when fully charged. See our Battery Guidelines under Documents.
How long do Beam batteries take to charge?
Under three hours in the 10-bay battery charger or 5-bay sleds. The LED indicator shows red/yellow/green status.
How should I store unused batteries?
Top them up every 3–6 months to avoid deep discharge damage.
How long can batteries sit in the charger?
Remove them within 10 hours of turning green.
What should I do if a battery is damaged or swollen?
Stop using it immediately and contact Beam support.
What is the process for recycling batteries?
Most hospitals have e-waste programs, and Beam can arrange battery recycling services if needed.
Warranty & Support
What is Beam’s warranty?
One-year limited manufacturer’s warranty covering material defects and normal-use failures. See our Warranty under Documents.
Who do I contact for support or replacements?
Your IT department or support@beam-mobile.com. Always provide the device model, a description of the issue, and photos (if applicable). Response time is less than 24 hours.
Do you provide support for deployment?
Yes. Beam assists with setup, device deployment, recommended workflows, and technical onboarding.
